Hula’s to Host 9th Annual Wing Fling Cook-off Fundraiser
Hancock County – March 21, 2011 – Hula’s Bar & Grill will host the 9th Annual Wing Fling Chicken Wing Cook-off, benefiting Gaits to Success, on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The entry fee is $100 for each team of four or less which will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Awards, as well as the coveted People’s Choice Award.
Each team will be supplied with wings and one case of beverages, on site, but must supply their own tent, cooking utensils, table(s), and cooking mode (i.e. fryers and oil, or grills, etc.) All chicken wing connoisseurs, as well as those who just want to come out and support their team and Gaits to Success, will be charged an entry fee of $10 at the door with proceeds benefiting Gaits to Success. The entry fee for children, 10 years and under, is $5 each.
Gaits to Success, located on ten acres in Kiln, MS., is a non-profit, volunteer driven, therapeutic horse riding facility. Gates, which is largely funded by private donations, was established in 1991 by nurse Barbara Kaiser and is designed to help special needs children including those with partial paralysis, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and those with developmental delays and the mentally challenged.
Students, 3 years of age and up, engage in activities on a horse that are both enjoyable and stimulating. The movement while on the horse helps build a foundation to improve neurological function and sensory processing. It also relaxes and stimulates unused muscles, increases joint mobility, and improves balance and coordination for the special needs students. They also experience physical and cognitive benefits while enjoying the freedom of riding a horse, something they may never have a chance to experience if not for Gaits to Success.
The newly opened Hula’s Bar and Grill, located in the former Pier House Restaurant location in Diamondhead, MS, features several signature menu items including Hula’s “Soon to be Famous!” chicken wings. “They do great things for special needs children at Gaits to Success and Silver Slipper Casino has always been a strong supporter,” stated John N. Ferrucci, COO and General Manager of Silver Slipper Casino which also leases and operates Hula’s Bar and Grill. “Hula’s is laid back and fun, and serves up some of the best wings in the South, if not THE Best. It just seemed natural for Hula’s to host this year’s Wing Fling Cook-off “
Team entry forms are available at Hula’s Bar & Grill or you can download a brochure and entry form on Hula’s website at www.hulasdiamondhead.com . Checks should be made payable to Gaits to Success. For more information contact Bryan Gospodinovich at (228) 469-2785.
