Silver Slipper Casino “Pays It Forward” to Local Charities

Hancock County – May 4, 2011 – When John Ferrucci, COO and General Manager for Silver Slipper Casino, was approached for help by Herb Dubuisson, a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul Society, he never dreamed that Silver Slipper Casino would win a new 2011 Ford Fiesta . “Herb asked if I could help St. Vincent de Paul Society with their fundraiser,” said Ferrucci. “I was well aware of the great things that St. Vincent does within the community.  So,
I told him I would gladly donate a couple of dinners from one of the Slipper’s restaurants to raffle off or I’d buy something if that would help.” Ferrucci agreed for Silver Slipper Casino to purchase five raffle tickets, at $100 each, for a chance to win a new 2011 Ford Fiesta with proceeds benefiting the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He never dreamed that the Slipper would win the raffle!

“When we found out that the Slipper had won the Ford Fiesta, we decided to pay it forward to our community,” stated Ferrucci. “We found out that, although Joe Henderson gave the Society a really great deal on the car so that they could raise funds, the actual value of the car is approximately $15,000. So, Silver Slipper Casino established
a charity fund in that amount which we will distribute, in its entirety, to local charity foundations by the end of 2011.”

When Ferrucci picked up the new car, he presented Bill McIntyre, President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, with the first check from the fund in the amount of $5,000 since it was their Foundation that helped the Slipper establish this first charitable fund.

“I’ve always been very proud of our employees and our company,” stated Ferrucci. “I hope that we’ll be able to maintain this charitable fund for years to come in support of this wonderful community in which we live and work.”
