Louisiana Woman is $1,000,000 Richer Thanks to
Silver Slipper Casino
Hancock County – January 7, 2008 – Wendy Barraco is $1,000,000 richer today, thanks to Silver Slipper Casino’s “Who’s going to be a Millionaire” drawing held Sunday, January 6. “Wendy wasn’t present, but when we called her however, she couldn’t believe it,” stated John N. Ferrucci, COO and General Manager for Silver Slipper Casino. “She thought her friends were pulling a prank on her although we assured her it was no prank.”
Barraco, a Shell Oil retiree from Norco, Louisiana was clearly shaken when she received the call said Manny Corrao, Director of Sales and Marketing. “My husband had just reminded me that the drawing was tonight at 7:00 pm.,” stated Barraco. “I went online to check the Slipper website to see if the winner had been posted, and then I received the call. I still don’t believe it.”
The 59 year old who had three of 5,000 entries into the drawing, said that she, her husband and her daughter, a recent LSU graduate, make the 70 minute drive to Silver Slipper Casino quite frequently. “Oh, yes. It’s our favorite casino,” said Barraco. When asked what she will do with the money, she said that she wants to pay off her house, give some to family, put some into savings, and will split the money with her husband. “We made a deal that if either of us won, we would split the money fifty-fifty.”
Barraco and her husband will make the familiar trip to Silver Slipper Casino today to officially collect her $1,000,000 which will be awarded in five guaranteed annual installments of $200,000 per year, this first being today. Both, who are big LSU fans, plan to stay and watch the BCS Championship game at the Slipper with hopes of having two great reasons to celebrate.

The Slipper’s “Who’s Going to be a Millionaire” $1,000,000 Cash Giveaway was the first of its kind on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. When asked if the Slipper will have another in 2008, “This was a first of what we hope to be many firsts for the Slipper and the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” stated Ferrucci. “We have several great promotions scheduled for 2008. We may not repeat it this year, but who knows what will happen. We’re always working hard to exceed our guests’ expectations and give them more of what they want.”
