Silver Slipper Casino to Host 3rd Sanctioned
Preliminary 2011 Ultimate Elvis® Competition

Hancock County – June 8, 2011  –Silver Slipper Casino has been selected, again, to host a sanctioned preliminary competition, July 22-23, for the 2011Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest. This is the fifth year that Elvis Presley Enterprises has held a contest in search of The Elvis Tribute Artist that best represents the legacy of Elvis Presley and the third year that Silver Slipper Casino was chosen to host the event. “This event gets bigger and better each year,” stated John N. Ferrucci, COO and General Manager for Silver Slipper Casino. “The talent is incredible and almost surreal. It’s as if Elvis is still with us.”

The winner of the Silver Slipper Casino UETAC contest will receive $1,000 cash and an opportunity to compete in The 2011 Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest finals, presented by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. in Memphis during the annual Elvis Week, in August. The Second Place winner in the Slipper’s preliminary competition will receive $500 cash and Third Place will receive $250 cash. The Grand Champion of the 2011 Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest will win a prize package that includes $20,000 cash (See: www.elvis.com/ultimatecontest ).

Biloxi native, June Juanico, will return as one of the judges for the event. Many locals may remember that Juanico dated Elvis Presley in his younger years and was very close to him and his family. She shared a passionate three year relationship with Presley when she was 18 and he was 21, and in later years authored the book, “Elvis in the Twilight of Memory”. Juanico has been featured on numerous television documentaries and Elvis festivals around the world.

The competition at Silver Slipper Casino is limited to only 15 contestants and the deadline for entries is Wednesday, July 20. Interested contestants can apply at Silver Slipper Casino’s website, www.silverslipper-ms.com  on the promotion and entertainment page.

All contestants will be backed by the live band "XPG. For years, "XPG" has been the full-time band for Brandon Bennett, the 2008 Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest’s Grand Champion and a native of Ponchatoula, Louisiana

The Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest is coordinated through CKX. To date, they have focused on the Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest acquiring globally recognized entertainment content and related assets, including the rights to the name, image and likeness of Elvis Presley, the operations of Graceland and proprietary rights to the IDOLS television brand, including the American Idol series in the United States and local adaptations of the IDOLS television show format which, collectively, air in over 100 countries around the world.
