Elvis Presley’s Former Biloxi Sweetheart to Judge
Silver Slipper Casino’s Ultimate Elvis® Competition Again
Hancock County – July 16, 2010 – Many may remember that Biloxi Native, June Juanico, dated Elvis Presley in his younger years and was very close to him and his family. She has agreed, once again, to be one of the judges at the Silver Slipper’s Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist competition on July 23-24, 2010. In 1955 when June was 18 and Elvis was 21, they shared a passionate, three-year relationship, much of it during Elvis’ frequent trips to both perform and vacation on the Coast. Juanico is the author of “Elvis in the Twilight of Memory” and has been featured on television documentaries and Elvis festivals around the world.
She will share the judges’ podium with Kim Hoyt, a native Bay St. Louis singer and songwriter and Margie Adams from Mobile, Alabama. Hoyt was a long time technical producer for the production show “Pure Gold” which featured several of the best Elvis Tribute Artists in America. He most recently was the music supervisor for “Mississippi Son”, an award winning documentary about the impact of Hurricane Katrina on Mississippi musicians. Adams is Juanico’s Business Manager and an avid Elvis historian.
