A Second Year

Hancock County – August 30, 2011 – Silver Slipper Casino’s Chef Sean Daigle and Chef Anne Simon earned top honors in the MS Gulf Coast American Culinary Federation’s 15th Annual Culinary Classic, held August 21st in Biloxi, Mississippi. Daigle won a Silver Medal in the Poultry Category for his seared duck breast with dirty rice and a bing cherry sauce with duck cracklings. Simon won Bronze in the Dessert Category for her Coconut Pot de Crème with a Coconut Almond Cookie.

The dishes were judged on appearance, taste, complexity, originality and professionalism by top certified chefs. “This is the second year that our culinary team has brought back top honors in the competition,” said John N. Ferrucci, COO and General Manager for Silver Slipper Casino. “We’ve always known that Sean and Anne are great chefs by the many compliments they receive from our guests. The awards are well deserved and we’re very proud of them.”

The Annual Culinary Classic competition is sanctioned by the American Culinary Federation. Chefs from throughout the Coast vie for top honors during the annual competition including “Best of Show.” Funds raised during the event help fund the MS Gulf Chapter’s work with the ACFEF Chef and Child Foundation whose mission is to educate children and families in understanding proper nutrition through community-based initiatives led by the American Culinary Federation chef members, and to be the voice of the culinary industry in its fight against hunger, malnutrition and obesity.
