Silver Slipper Casino to Host Regional
“Colgate Country Showdown” Competition

Hancock County – October 11, 2010 –Silver Slipper Casino has been selected to host the sanctioned Gulf Coast Regional “Colgate Country Showdown” Competition on Saturday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Slipper’s The Original Stage Bar. “We’re really excited about hosting the Gulf Coast Regional.,” stated John N. Ferrucci, COO and General Manager for Silver Slipper Casino. “The competition will feature a total of seven bands and musicians from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and we’re anticipating the same great turnout for the “Colgate Country Showdown” as we had for our Ultimate Elvis competition.”

“The Colgate Country Showdown”, designed to find the most promising country music talent in America, has launched many professional music careers throughout the past twenty-nine years, including Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, Toby Keith, Leann Rimes and many more. The competition begins, each spring, with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the United States. The winners then advance to the state competition where they compete for the State Title and a $1,000 Grand Prize. State winners then have an opportunity to advance to the five Regional competitions where they compete for the Regional Title, and a chance to go to Nashville and compete for the National Title and Grand Prize of $100,000

Most of the contestants will be backed by ‘Homemade Jam’, a well known regional band from Shreveport, Louisiana who will also perform a “Tribute to the Louisiana Hayride” at Silver Slipper Casino on Friday, October 15 at 8:00 p.m. at The Original Stage Bar. Louisiana Hayride was a radio and later television country music show broadcast from the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The program helped launch many music careers including Elvis Presley who made his first television appearance on the TV version of the show in 1955.

Admission is FREE at the Slipper’s “Colgate Country Showdown” Competition. You must be 21 years or older to attend.
